KOCHI, INDIA (April 28, 2018) – Lulu Group International launched its mega project in Kochi. Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala officially inaugurated the Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Center & Grand Hyatt this morning in the presence of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, UAE Minister for Tolerance, HH Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan, Bahrain Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Khalid Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Yusuffali MA, chairman of Lulu group along with ambassadors of UAE, KSA & Bahrain and other dignitaries.
The Rs. 1,800 crore mega project is part of its Rs. 13,000 cr. expansion plan in India in the retail, hospitality & food processing sectors.
Lulu Bolgatty International Convention Centre is billed as largest of its kind in India with over 10 lakh sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor space including two customizable and column-free venues with a total capacity of around 10,000 people. LIWA, is the largest hall in the convention center with 20,000 sq. ft. and can take more than 5,000 people at a time. It has also got a unique automated re-tractable seating system, which is first of its kind in the country.
Speaking at the glittering function Sheikh Nahyan highlighted the historic and vital role played by Indians especially Keralites, in the development of UAE and fondly recalled “Lulu, as where the UAE goes to shop”. The convention centre has 3 helipads and parking capacity for more than 1500 cars. With a prime waterfront location, the convention centre is a 45-minute drive from Cochin International Airport and is connected to all major road networks.

Jeddah: Retail giant Lulu Group, has further expanded its presence in Saudi Arabia by opening its 11 th Hypermarket in the Kingdom. The new Hypermarket which is also the second outlet in Jeddah was officially inaugurated His Excellency Ibrahim Saleh Al Suwail, Deputy Governor of Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority SAGIA on Wednesday.
“We are moving in line with Vision 2030 and the Kingdom’s robust economy and the Government’s investor-friendly policies have encouraged and provided us a favorable environment to continue to establish ourselves and to contribute to the economic growth of the Kingdom. Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi based retailer major Lulu Group has further expanded its presence in the capital by opening a new shopping center in the Workers Residential City in Al Mafraq, off the city limits of Abu Dhabi.
The new shopping center, Emirates General Market was officially inaugurated by H.E. Saeed Eisa Mohamed Al Khyeli, Director General of ZonesCorp in the presence of Eng. Earmarks Dhs. 40 million to subsidize various products.
Abu Dhabi: With an aim to help shoppers save on their shopping during the holy month of Ramadan, Lulu hypermarkets has announced special initiatives. As part of the initiative, subsidized Ramadan baskets comprising of various essential products were launched this morning by Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi, director of the Customer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy at Al Wahda Mall in Abu Dhabi.
The baskets come in two variants, one containing 12 and other 20 essential products at a very nominal price of AED 85 and AED 120 respectively. These baskets contain cooking oil, rice, lentils, water, dates, oats, sugar, etc., and are discounted up to 32. Last year Lulu sold close to 500,000 such baskets and this bigger numbers are expected.
Elaborating about the Ramadan initiatives, Saifee Rupawala, CEO of Lulu Group said, “we have always taken special care to see that the shoppers are not unduly burdened during the holy month of Ramadan, when there is a tendency to hike the prices by the suppliers. We have earmarked a budget of Dhs. 40 million to be used for subsidizing various products in all categories. Last week we started by launching a 3-day promotion at Lulu Hypermarket in Khalidiyah Mall, where more than 50 discount were offered in all categories”.
“We will be heavily publicizing our special offers & promotions all throughout the holy month, mainly focusing on essential food products while also covering other categories such as garments, home linen, household, etc.” added Saifi Rupawala.
Lulu, which has its own sourcing and food processing facilities in UK, USA, India and the far East recently opened another one in Sri Lanka to secure uninterrupted supply of fresh produce for their 134 stores across various countries at most competitive prices, by eliminating “middle men”.
Speaking at the launch of RAMDAN BASKET, Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi said “LULU has always supported all our initiatives and have been a role model for CSR activities. These subsidized Ramadan Baskets will be available in all their hypermarkets in the UAE from today. I glad to note that LULU has increased their subsidy budget from Dhs. 25 million last year to Dhs. 40 million this year, which will benefit larger segment of society. Also, Lulu in cooperation with ministry of economy has locked the price of 140 products throughout the year 2017”.

The 5th Edition of LuLu Walk for Wellness, the Annual CSR Event of LuLu Group International was conducted on Friday, 24th February @ Zabeel Park, Dubai and Al Jahili Park , Al Ain amid much fervor & enthusiasm.

UAE based LuLu Group which opened its first hypermarket and department store in Jakarta, Indonesia in January last year will be investing US$500 million on a major project in the country. The Project will include the setting up of ten new hypermarkets and department stores in the next three years across the country. The first LuLu Hypermarket and Department Store was inaugrated by the Indonesian President, Joko"Jokowi"Wi dodo and it has become one of the most highly popular shopping destinations for residents in and around East Jakarta. Explaining the expansion plans of the company in Indonesia, Chairman & Managing Director of LuLu Group, Mr. Yusufali MA said: "With an initial investment of $300 million in the first phase, we plan to open 10 hypermarkets and department stores by the end of 2018 and a central logistics and warehousing facility in Jakarta. LuLu Group has opened a new outlet in Qatar at Al Messila in Doha. The new hypermarket, located near Fariq bin Omran was inaugurated by the Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassem bin Mohammed al-Thani. LuLu Group International has announced its biggest ever investment in the UAE with a 2 billion Dh plan to develop three malls in Umm Al Quwain, Sharjah and Dubai in the next two years. The mall development and management division of LuLu Group, Line Investments & Property aims to build and operate the three malls within the next three years.
The Mall of Umm Al Quwain is to be a single level strip mall of 20,000 square meters with a seven screen cinema due at the end of 2017 while the project in Sharjah, the Avenues Mall will cover 43,000 sq meters with premium restaurants and entertainment avenues is scheduled to be launched in 2019 while the Avenues Mall at Dubai’s Silicon Oasis is expected to extend over 82,500 sq. meters and has been designed as a premium retail and leisure destination which will be launched at the end of 2018. The Silicon Oasis Mall will compete with the new Cityland Mall which was announced last week and is located 5 kms away. Marcello Larizza, the general manager at Line Investments and Property explained that this would be the biggest investment by LuLu Group in the UAE but it was simultaneously building three malls in India and another three in Saudi Arabia.

Vice President of India lays Foundation stone for the integrated mixed use project

The foundation stone for the project was laid by Vice President M. Abu Dhabi: The Lulu Group International has announced an annual donation of AED1 million, to support the Emirates Red Crescent or ERC, humanitarian and development programmes for 10 years, as part of its initiatives in the Year of Giving.
This announcement was made during the visit of Yusuff Ali, Chairman of Lulu Group International, to the headquarters of the ERC, where Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Secretary-General of the ERC, and several officials welcomed him. Al Falahi received a cheque for AED1 million from Yusuff Ali, representing the group’s donation for the current year in the presence of senior officials of ERC and Lulu group.
Yusuff Ali stressed that the Lulu Group International is always committed to its social responsibilities and contributes by co-operating with its humanitarian partners, with the ERC as its main partner. He added that the group is always keen to respond to the call of humanitarian duty and interact with the initiatives of the ERC, as it strongly believes in the ERC’s role to rescue victims all over the world. He also expressed his appreciation for the ERC’s vital initiatives, its rapid response to crises and disasters and its solidarity with victims, making it a leading humanitarian institution.
Dr. Al Falahi expressed the ERC’s appreciation for the group for its support for the ERC’s activities while highlighting that the group is a permanent partner and fundamental supporter of its programmes, both inside and outside the UAE. He added that these actions have opened wider horizons of co-operation with the group, to fulfil its social responsibility and support the national economy.
Dr. Al Falahi stated that strengthening its partnership with national institutions, especially economic institutions, is a supreme goal that the ERC desires to support its capabilities, under the monitoring of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and Chairman of the ERC. The ERC has taken greater steps in this direction and has created many strategic partnerships with several authorities and economic institutions, causing a qualitative leap in its programmes and development projects.
Al Falahi highlighted that the ERC has adopted initiatives and ideas to gather the support of those who are charitable and good, for the benefit of people with humanitarian issues. Due to its good planning, it was able to establish focussed and constructive partnerships with the private sector that contributed in providing financial earnings, enabling it to fulfil its commitments towards those targeted by its services, both inside and outside the country.

DUBAI: Retail major Lulu Group joined the charity drive by partnering with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Foundation to initiate a Ramadan project that aims to distribute shopping cards to deserving Emirati and expatriate families throughout the UAE.
At a press conference held at the Foundation’s head office in Dubai, a Memorandum of Understanding MoU in this regard was signed between Saleh Zaher Al Mazroai, General Manager, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian & Charity Est. and Yusuff Ali M.A, Chairman and Managing Director of Lulu Group in the presence of Birg./ Ali Mohammed Al Shamali , Director of General Department of Correctional Institutions, Mr. Salim MA, Director of Lulu Group and other top officials.
More than 8,000 deserving families in all the seven emirates will be given charity cards during the month of Ramadan. The cards will have denomination amount of Dhs 500 to be redeemed for food products throughout Ramadan at any Lulu group hypermarkets in the country. This is the 10th year of joint initiative being carried out by Lulu Group and Mohamed bin Rashid Al MaktoumCharity and Humanitarian Foundation together and a total amount of AED 28 million worth of Charity cards has so far been issued including the current year.
Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al MaktoumCharity and Humanitarian Foundation engages in charity work within and outside the UAE during the Holy Month of Ramadan. The Middle East retail giant Lulu Group expanded further in KSA with the opening of a new shopping mall and hypermarket in Hufuf, Al Ahsa Governorate. The Lulu shopping mall and the hypermarket was officially inaugurated by His Highness Prince Badr bin Muhammed bin Abdullah bin Jalawi Al Saudi, Governor of Al Ahsa in the presence of Adil Mohammed Al Mulhim,Mayor offal Aha and several high-ranking officials from various government departments and representatives from local business communities. The opening of the newest hypermarket saw the group, which is on a vast expansion mode, anchor itself firmly in the modern, customer-centric retail landscape of the Kingdom. Lulu Group has opened its latest hypermarket in the city of Hail, in the north-western province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Sunday.
The Hypermarket was officially inaugurated by Dr. Saud Hamood Al Bugami, Under Secretary of Hail province in the presence of several high-ranking officials from various government departments and representatives from local business communities. Lyndhurst, New Jersey: Lulu Group International, the Abu Dhabi headquartered retail and hospitality group further expanded their operations by inaugurating their food processing and logistics bases in USA. Y International, a wholly owned subsidiary of the group launched its operation in Lyndhurst, New Jersey this morning.
The world –class export center will purchase, process, re-label and export food, non-food, chilled and frozen products made in the U.S. In the first phase there are 75 employees which is expected to eventually grow to 200 to 250 employees within I year.

An official from the Kingdom of Bahrain embassy in Washington D.C., Mohamed Bahzad, said Ali's company, aside from being successful, also is known for its corporate social responsibility. Going in sync with UAE’s vision towards a sustainable environment, LuLu Group International had combined forces with the ADDC to bring forth awareness towards conserving water through the #LuLuSaveWaterChallenge in March, 2016.
The campaign aimed at creating awareness and guiding the residents of Abu Dhabi in conserving water resources and rewarding them for the same. The initiative was conducted as part of LuLu’s commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility campaigns. The top 53 winners of the challenge were awarded cash prizes. The first prize winner was awarded a cash prize of AED 50,000.00 while the runners up were awarded cash prizes of AED 25,000.00 each and other 50 consolation prizes were awarded cash prizes of AED 5,000.00 each. The campaign was held until June 2016 with more than thousand residents taking part in it. ADDC also conducted weekly seminars in various LuLu outlets for demonstrating on methods to save water and electricity. Moreover, Sunrise School also contributed to the campaign by encouraging students of the school to participate in arts and creative competitions throughout the period.
The campaign was also successful in the social media and throughout the period of the campaign, people shared selfies and pictures of methods to conserve water resources as well. ADDC also played a major role in providing data of water consumption and decision making as well.
