Top Trends That Will Reign In The Months Ahead

Back

As a New Year approaches, our wardrobes too demand an overhaul to ring it in style. From a new color of the year to bringing out old favorites, there is a lot to explore for the year ahead. Here are the breakout trends to welcome 2018 as a true fashionista –

Luxurious velvets

This retro fabric is one of the plushest fabrics to wear right now. The fabric made a huge splash during runway shows held in February through March and has held its position as a favorite since then. Velvet has been revisited in contemporary desigsn with velvet sheath dresses making the ‘seasonal essentials’ list throughout the year.

Trench coats

The iconic trench coat is a firm staple this season. The trench in a classic style in a camel or beige color is the real breakout of this winter. Shearling trenches with faux sheepskin collars is also a must-have.

Flat heeled ankle-boots

Practicality combined with style is the mainstay of fashion for the year. The trend extends over to winter boots, which are ankle-length, and low heeled this season. Being versatile, they can be worn with skirts, dresses, jeans, and even smart pants.

Chunky sweaters

Knit sweaters, chunky and cozy, are oh-so-coveted right now. To stay on trend you need to pick a jumper that gives a streamlined fit and hits just above the waist. Extra props if you get a patterned knit!

Pantone purple

Pantone color of 2018 is purple, so naturally it permeates every aspect of our lives. Make sure you have a reasonable number of purple items in your closet in order to keep up with the trend. If splurging all out on purple dresses and pants is not something you want, then opt to incorporate it in accessories. A couple of purple scarves, a purple bag and maybe a few pieces of amethyst hued jewelry should be enough to rake in the accolades.
