6 Ways To Wear Red This Fall
The ‘IT’ color of the season, red, was predicted long before the fashion weeks even started. With designers bringing in tons of red to their Fall ’17 collection, here are a few street styles in which to incorporate this hue into your wardrobe.
Perhaps the most versatile way to color block your red, a suit is both work wear-appropriate and casually cool enough for evenings and weekends when paired with white sneakers. The looser fitting, more relaxed cuts are ideal for layering over a turtleneck come winter.
Dress It Up (Or Down)
Midi floral dresses really aren't going anywhere, so invest in one to see you through each season. Now that it's fall, wear your red-toned botanicals with knee-high boots. The contrast of prim and edgy makes for the perfect clash.
Keep It Casual
Relaxed trousers and oversized knits are the most comfortable autumn attire, and in recent seasons have evolved into workwear (praise be!). To sharpen the look, style it with your best heels, or keep it cool with box-fresh sneakers for weekends.
It'd be remiss of us to leave outerwear out of the equation. We're nothing in winter without warmth, so paint the town red with your coats and jackets. Go for interesting textures like a teddy bear shag — extra points for wearing it over an already-all-red get-up.
Velvet has been in the news ever since July and the crushed texture is staying put for fall. A more exciting way to tackle red-to-toe, the sumptuous feel of velvet is perfect for chillier temperatures. Plus, you can wear it any way you like, as it's offered in everything from dresses to boots.
Patent, vinyl, high-shine...whatever you're calling this futuristic fabric, the main thing is that you load your winter wardrobe with it. Last fall, we wore black patent trenches for sci-fi vibes. Now, we're choosing pieces in cherry, crimson, and scarlet.
